Become a

WilsonHaus currently operates out of an intimate setting headquarters where we can house up to five dogs on site. To open the door for more people to get involved - and ultimately help more dogs in need - we offer two variations of fostering:

  • Traditional full-time fostering

  •  Hybrid foster program

As we continue to grow, our long-term vision is to build a larger-scale rescue and foster facility that allows us to expand our impact even further. In the meantime, foster homes are an essential part of how we bring that vision to life.

Fostering with WilsonHaus quite literally saves lives. Without fosters, we are limited in how many dogs we can pull from overcrowded shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia. Every open home creates space for another dog to have a chance.

We’re looking for individuals who are compassionate, reliable, detail-oriented, and committed - people who are ready to play an active role in a dog’s rescue journey and help carry them from uncertainty to safety.

WilsonHaus provides all essential supplies, including a crate, bed, food, bowls, toys, treats, leash, collar, and name tag, and we cover all medical care and expenses. Your role is to offer a stable environment, meet their day-to-day needs, and gently guide them as they transition into the next phase of their rescue journey.

FOSTERHAUS

TRADITIONAL

Our traditional foster program is what most people think of when they hear “fostering.” You welcome a dog into your home full-time, providing them with a safe, stable environment while we work to find their forever family. This option is ideal for those who have the time, flexibility, and desire to fully integrate a foster dog into their daily life. You’ll help them decompress, build confidence, and learn what it means to be part of a home - all while we support you every step of the way.

HYBRID
PROGRAM

Our hybrid foster program was created to remove one of the biggest barriers to fostering: the workday.

As a hybrid foster, you care for a dog in your home during evenings and weekends, and drop them off at our facility during the day. This allows you to experience fostering without needing to be home full-time, while still giving a dog consistency, structure, and a place to land.

It’s a flexible, shared-care model designed to make fostering more accessible without compromising the dog’s needs.

02   WELCOME

FosterHaus Orientation

Whether you choose the traditional or hybrid foster route, the next step is a short online orientation designed specifically for WilsonHaus fosters. This training walks through frequently asked questions, why we do what we do, and what you can expect throughout your fostering experience.

Our goal is to ease any uncertainty and help you feel fully prepared - whether you’ve fostered before or this is your very first time. More than anything, we want you to feel supported, confident, and valued, so that both you and your foster dog are set up for success from the very beginning.

03  FOSTER

Be a guardian to a dog in need

Whether you’re fostering full-time or participating in our hybrid program, this is where your foster dog begins to settle into a home environment. The first few days are all about decompression — giving them space, structure, and patience as they start to understand their new routine. Some dogs adjust quickly, while others take more time — and both are completely okay.

Your role isn’t to “fix” them. It’s to be consistent, observant, and present as they begin to show you who they really are. This stage is where we learn the most — their personality, their quirks, what they love, and what they’re still unsure of. All of this helps us match them with the right forever family.

And remember — you’re never doing this alone. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
